Aintree Racecourse (Grand National Day) 14-04-2012

A visit to Aintree for the helicopters associated with the racing going on, with the highlight of the days fixtures being the Grand National. The vantage point where the helicopters can be viewed either climbing out on 09 or turning finals for 27 is on an area of public 'waste' land by Beechers Brook jump where along with the helicopters you can see the jump. It should be noted that the helicopters are projected against the sky, so you're very dependant on there being a good standard of light!

April Fools Fly-In @ Breighton 01-04-2012

The first fly-in of the season took us across to Breighton. The truly CAVOK conditions made for another good turn out & as always some interesting bits for the camera. The N regd Cessna 208 overhead was a very nice surprise, shame it didn't fancy paying us a visit!

Caernarfon (EGCK) 18-03-2012

A mothers day visit to the Welsh coast fitted nicely with spending a few hours at Caernarfon. Sadly there weren't the same number of visitors that we'd seen on previous visits probably due to several factors, not least that is was Mothers day but also some poor weather in other parts of the UK.

Otherton 11-02-2012

This is another place that we've been meaning to get to for a while & things just worked out nicely for us to get there. When we arrived we were told to sign in on the visitors book & then ask for a club member to escort us around the airfield (wearing hi-vis), walking around & talking to pilots there seems to be a real positive attitude about the airfield following a recent re-structure of the club.

Midland Aviation Museum 11-02-2012

This is a museum that we've been meaning to get around for a little while now & things fell into place nicely this weekend to do so! While not the biggest museum this is duly reflected in the admission cost & it represents very good value for money. Getting to sit in the Vulcan was fantastic as well!
