The final stop of the day was at Bakewell to see if any balloons were being launched, we were in luck!

After we'd had enough of waiting for something interesting to happen at Halfpenny Green we had a little head scratch to try to find somewhere to head to next. Upon consulting the sat-nav about where was local to us we decided on Roddige, upon arrival a friendly welcome & access was allowed around the group of hangars. It can be very safely said that the new generation of microlights is yet to make an impact here & the flying school is still using classic microlight types, many of the based aircraft do not look to have any recent hours on them.

Halfpenny Green 29-05-2012

After spending the morning at Cosford we headed over to Halfpenny Green to see if anyone had called in for a lunch-time visit, the answer was no-one! It was very surprising at how quiet the airfield was with only a hand full of movements during our hour or so there, it does make you wonder that if that's their traffic level on a good flying day how it stays open!

Cosford 29-05-2012

A pre-arranged tour of the DCAE hangars at Cosford allowed for the viewing of all the instructional airframes currently in use there. The tour was a little rushed & somehow lacked the 'atmosphere' of the tour of Shawbury I'd previously been on, but thanks should be made to whoever organised the Jaguar Jaguar to be outside for a photo opportunity.
